I could sit here for quite some time and continue telling stories about you, but the fact of the matter is that everyone else in this room has had their own personal experiences with you, which means that they also know. When I first started working there almost 13 years ago, LeRoy, you were an outstanding supervisor for me to work under.
As time went on, you served not only as a superior but also as a guide for me to follow as I advanced through the ranks of the organization. I want to express my gratitude to you for everything you’ve done for me. I have no idea where I would be right now if it weren’t for some of your guidance, as well as some of the peculiarities you possess. After some time had passed, we would be considered peers, and during that time, you would prove to me that you were also able to learn new skills from those who were younger than you. Later on, when I was a shift commander, I discovered that I could always rely on your guidance, wisdom, and other qualities.
Thank you. Last but not least, LeRoy, I’d like to extend my gratitude to you as a friend. When I think back on it, you were an absolutely incredible person to be around, and I don’t even know where to begin praising you now that I’ve given it some thought. Rest in peace, my good friend; even though your loved ones will miss you terribly, they can take solace in the fact that they are now in the capable hands of others.
