Anthony Manieri Obituary, Death – A tragic loss of life occurred on Sunday afternoon in the hamlet of Smithfield when a local man was murdered when the pickup truck he was driving veered off of Interstate 295 and collided with a tree. At the time of the collision, the oncoming snowfall that had just started moving into the area had just started. According to the Rhode Island State Police, the deceased individual was a man by the name of Anthony Manieri, and it was determined that he was 56 years old. An investigation revealed that Manieri was driving a Ford Ranger pickup on the high speed lane of Interstate 295 South when, approximately 500 feet south of the George Washington Highway overpass, the vehicle spun across the center and low speed lanes, traveled through the soft shoulder, and hit a tree as it entered the wood line, according to the state police. The tree was hit as the vehicle entered the wood line. Manieri was found dead at the scene. The medical examiner at the scene of the collision pronounced Manieri deceased.
