William Woodard Obituary, Death – On Monday, June 27, 2022, a man who had lived in Kentwood passed away and went to be with the Lord while he was surrounded by his devoted family. The man’s passing occurred on the same day that the city of Kentwood celebrated its 100th anniversary. His birthday was January 31st, 1943, which meant that he was 79 years old at the time of the event. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Martha Garner Woodard; two sons, Harrison Woodard of Kentwood, LA, and Charles Gordon (Allison) of Prairieville, LA; one sister, Dorothy Gross (Roger) of Clinton, LA; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Kentwood, Louisiana, is where Harrison Woodard began his life. Prairieville, Louisiana is the place where Charles Gordon first opened his eyes. His grandparents, Ernie Lee Woodard and Annie Lucille Woodard, one sister, Betty Jean Cook, and seven brothers, Jimmy Woodard, Ernest Woodard, Huey Woodard, Herbert Woodard, Russel Woodard, Irwin Woodard, and Clarence Woodard, all predeceased him. Betty Jean Cook was his only living sibling.
His parents, Ernie Lee Woodard and Annie Lucille Woodard, and one of his brothers, Huey Woodard, also predeceased him Betty Jean Cook is the only member of his family that he leaves behind. The Lewiston Baptist Church will be the location of visitation on the first Friday in July of 2022, beginning at nine in the morning and continuing until the beginning of religious services at eleven in the morning. Brother Cory Morris served as the spiritual leader for the services. McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood, Louisiana will be in charge of the arrangement, and the interment will take place at Lewiston Cemetery in Kentwood, Louisiana. In lieu of sending flowers, those who wish to do so may instead make contributions to the family.
