Christine Versluys Obituary, Longtime Topeka, Kansas Resident Has Died

Christine Versluys Obituary, Death – Christine Anne Versluys, 56, of Topeka, Kansas died on December 13, 2022. Christine was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 9, 1966, to Marianne Smentowski Berdon and Doyle Berdon. In 1987, she graduated from Marymount College in Salina, where she met her future husband. Christine and Ted Versluys have been married for 32 years, having married on June 16, 1990. Christine had a lot of fun learning, teaching, and tutoring at the Auburn-Washburn school district and at Most Pure Heart of Mary School. At Most Pure Heart of Mary, she prepared second graders for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and their First Holy Communion, among other things.

It was very essential to her to bring Jesus to people. Christine regularly attended Most Pure Heart of Mary Church and Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church. She worked as a Eucharistic Minister, as well as in Perpetual Adoration and Homebound Ministry. God was always first and foremost in her life. Christine cherished and was very proud of her family. They came in second only to God.
Grateful to have shared Christine’s life are her husband, Ted; children, Callie Versluys (Brent Laws), Nolan Versluys (Baylee Wells), Garrett Versluys; granddaughters, Addison and Phoebe; her mother, Marianne Berdon; her father, Doyle Berdon; siblings, John Berdon (Melissa), Jim Berdon (Larry), Angie Triggs (Tim) and Cathy Berdon; and nieces and nephews.

Christine is survived by a large family, as well as many students and dear friends whom she loved and influenced in ways we can only imagine. Tuesday, December 20, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. The Christian Burial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. in the Church.
