
Edith Steelman Obituary, Death – Edith Cody Steelman, who lived in Hickory and was 85 years old when she died on November 30, 2022, passed away at the Grace Village Assisted Living facility in Granite Falls. She was born on February 28, 1937 in Burke County to her late parents, James Leonard Cody and Naomi Price Cody. Both of her parents have since passed away. Since then, none of her parents has survived to this day. Edith was a devoted follower of Christianity and worked in the hosiery industry as a knitter until she reached the age where she could retire. Her favorite things to do included reading, sewing, and listening to bluegrass music. She was an avid reader.
Her sisters Marjorie, Edna, and Shirley, as well as her husband of 64 years, Lewis Steelman, passed away before she did. Her death was also preceded by her husband. Her parents were both a part of the group of people who had passed away before she did. Those who are still present to pay tribute to her memory are as follows: Steven and Ann Steelman, both of Summerville, South Carolina, are the parents of two sons. Jennifer Steelman, whose spouse Bryan Steelman lives in Conover, is Bryan’s wife. Robert “Buzz” Cody and his wife Lydia are residents of Charleston, South Carolina, where they have made their home.
The sister in question resides in Conover and her name is Sylvia Brown. Some of Baker and Dement’s grandchildren are Melissa Baker, Sara Dement, Victoria Sly, Alexandra Franks, and Nicolette Steelman. Also included in this group is Nicolette Steelman. Great-Grandchildren: Luke Baker, Eli Baker, Peyton Dement, Karley Dement, and Max Sly. Special Nephew Jason Cook and his family, which consists of his wife Beth and their children Stefani and Randall. There will be a memorial ceremony held in celebration of Edith’s life at the Hickory Church of Christ in Hickory on the afternoon of Sunday, December 18, 2022 at one o’clock in the afternoon. The service will take place. The Reverend Kevin Bibbee is going to act as the ceremony’s presider.
