Kevin Brown Obituary, Death – On December 13, 2022, Kevin Edward Brown, who was 52 years old, passed away. On March 7, 1970, he was born to Edward Thomas Brown and Brenda Dezern Brown in Shoals, which is also where he spent his childhood. His wife of 22 years, Patricia Gilbert Brown, his daughter Emma Marie Brown, and his son Luke “Chico” Edward Brown are the only members of his family to survive him. In addition, he is survived by his sister Lorrie Brown Sawyers, her husband Greg Sawyers, and the couple’s two kids, Jacob Sawyers (McKayla) and Joshua Sawyers. He is also survived by his parents. He graduated from East Surry High School in 1988 and then went on to receive his degree from Wake Forest University in 1992.
Kevin was a devout Christian who also had a passion for the sports he played, his farm, and the community of Shoals. He was well-liked by many people, yet his affection was directed more toward others. He was an enthusiastic coach to a large number of young people, on whom he had a long-lasting influence thanks to the enthusiasm and service he provided for the East Surry family. His first love was baseball, and he passed that passion on to his son Luke as well as many other youngsters in the neighborhood and the surrounding area. When his daughter Emma started playing, he became more interested in the sport of volleyball and shared his enthusiasm with others.
Kevin was an avid follower of the Demon Deacons in all three of their major sports: football, basketball, and baseball. He was frequently seen in the grandstand cheering them on, regardless of whether they were winning or losing. It was in Kevin Arvizu’s blood to be a farmer; he was extremely loyal to the farm that his family owned, and he cherished the time he spent working alongside his brother Eric Arvizu. Nothing meant more to him than continuing the tradition of farming that had been passed down through his family than the passion that raced through his veins.
His family, friends, and community will miss him very much. Kevin will not be forgotten. Shoals United Methodist Church, located in Pinnacle at 4245 Shoals Rd., will have a memorial service on Saturday, December 17, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cardinal Athletic Boosters, whose address is 801 W. Main Street, Pilot Mountain, North Carolina 27041.
