Richard Wilson Obituary, Death – Richard Eugene Wilson, age 89, formerly of Hyde Park, New York, passed away at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York, on November 6, 2022. Richard Eugene Wilson was a resident of Rhinebeck, New York. He was the son of Clifford Wilson and Viola Barley Wilson, and he was born on March 15, 1933 in the city of Poughkeepsie, New York. He attended Roosevelt High School and graduated there. At the Hyde Park Dutch Reformed Church on September 20, 1953, he tied the knot with the woman who would become the love of his life, Janice M. Page. Up to the time he retired, Richard was the founder, owner, and operator of PDQ Manufacturing in Staatsburg, New York.
He had a passion for all kinds of sports, but basketball was by far his favorite. He put in a significant amount of time at the YMCA playing basketball. In addition to that, he had a passion for playing golf and was a member of multiple golf leagues. He had a strong interest in seeing the world and made numerous trips to various locations. His kind and charitable nature will live on in people’s memories of him. He was generous to so many people. His spirituality was something that he placed a high priority on.
“Keep your eye on the ball,” which was a reference to Jesus, was one of his favorite sayings. He never lost his fiery zeal for the things he firmly believed in. He was cherished by many people and had a positive impact on their life. He will be remembered fondly by many people.
He was quite involved in the community of Hyde Park, where he was a member of both the Lions Club and the Rotary. For one point in time, he served on the board of directors at the YMCA located in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Surviving family members include his devoted wife of six decades, Janice M. Wilson, who lives in Rhinebeck; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon M. Wilson-Gallo and Peter Gallo, who live in Red Hook, New York; his grandson, Camden Hutchins, who lives in Holiday, Florida; his grandson, Tanner Hutchins and his fiancée, Megan White, who live in Rhinebeck, New York; his granddaughter and her husband,
One of his sons, Scott Wilson, who passed away on January 4, 2016, preceded him in death. His brothers Donald Wilson, Winfield Wilson, and Thomas Wilson all passed away before him.
