The body of Middleton was discovered by the Montgomery County Police on Friday, December 9, 2022, when they were executing a search warrant for a homicide that had been committed by Moore on Thursday, December 8. The killing had taken place on December 8, 2022. After the murder of Ayalew Wondimu, 61 years old, an employee of the Dash In Convenience Store located in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue, law enforcement officers obtained a search warrant for Moore’s apartment, which was located at 11235 Oak Leaf Drive. The body of Middleton was found in the bedroom, where she had been resting for some time. She was in an advanced stage of decomposition when it was discovered. An autopsy was performed on her body after it was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME). The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) reached the conclusion that Middleton was approximately 38 weeks pregnant at the time of her passing, and that the fetus, which was a boy, would have survived had Middleton given birth at the time of the examination. This was the conclusion reached by the OCME after conducting an autopsy on Middleton’s body. Additional information, including the fact that Middleton had been shot multiple times, was discovered through the autopsy process.

Moore, who is 31 years old, has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of Middleton, first-degree murder for the death of a viable fetus, and a crime of violence against a pregnant person, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Middleton’s death was ruled a homicide in the first degree, and the death of the viable fetus was ruled a homicide in the first degree. Because he was responsible for the death of Wondimu, he is being held in custody without the option of being released on bond.
