Glenn Franklin Obituary, Glenn Franklin Has Sadly Passed Away

Glenn Franklin Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Glenn Dexter Franklin, who resided in Morganton and was 81 years old, passed away. He passed away without suffering and was embraced by his family and friends. On June 8, 1941, he was born in Burke County to his mother, Fannie Luiza Franklin, who passed away prior to his birth. Between the years 1961 and 1967, Glenn was a soldier in the United States Army. After that, he pursued a career in the United States Postal Service, where he worked for the Morganton branch for a total of 20 years before calling it quits in 2003.

Glenn Franklin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Faye Franklin; and his four children, Brian Franklin, Marty Franklin (Shannon), Lori Bates (Greg); and Chris Franklin. Glenn was a devoted husband. He is survived by his wife (Brandy). He was a devoted grandfather to his seven grandchildren: Samantha Borders (Chaz), Dylan Franklin (Toni), Taylor Franklin, Breanna Franklin, Breanna Michaels, David Bates, and Marissa Franklin. Additionally, he had the pleasure of meeting his two great-grandchildren: Christian Franklin and Noelle Franklin. There are also three brothers-in-law that Glenn has, and their names are Bobby Riddle (Rosemary), Harold Riddle (Jean), and Rex Riddle (Geraldine).

Brothers Coy Franklin, Edison Franklin, Wilburn Franklin, and Alvin Franklin, as well as sisters Dora Franklin, Lena Seagle, Patsy Drummond, Margie Ross, and Flossie Benfield, passed away before Glenn. Glenn attended the Hartland Missionary Methodist Church for his entire life. During that time, he was active in the church’s steward board and taught Sunday school there. He had a close friendship with Denny Watts, and they often went fishing together. He also liked to cook for anyone who came to his house. He will be sorely missed, but the legacy of his tomatoes will live on in perpetuity. At the Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton on Monday, December 19, the family will host a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. for friends and family.
